Buerkle Honda in the News From WHITE BEAR/VADNAIS HEIGHTS PRESS, 12/25/13 Honda dealership to expand VADNAIS HEIGHTS — The Honda dealership on Highway 61 is expanding to more than double its current size and is adding used vehicle sales to its business. Last week the Vadnais Heights City Council approved a plan for two additions to the building, as well as a larger parking lot. Buerkle Honda owner Dave Buerkle said hes investing $10 to $11 million in the project, which also will include a remodel of the existing 28,000-square foot building. Two additions, totaling 40,000 square feet, are planned. According to city documents: The larger addition is to the north side of the building, where there is open land that already has been readied for construction. This addition will include a new showroom, sales offices, reception area and waiting areas. On the east side of the building, the service bays also will be expanded. The exterior will be similar to its current appearance. The reconfigured parking lot will have 556 spaces for vehicles that are for sale, plus 90 customer and 100 employee parking spaces. The City Council OKd a variance allowing the for-sale spaces to be slightly narrower and shorter than usually allowed. The dealership will have three access points: the existing right-in and right-out-only access to Highway 61 shared with the adjacent Hyundai dealership, the existing route through the Hyundai lot to or from Buerkle Road, and a new connection to the existing Highway 61 access in front of the Mitsubishi and Suzuki dealership that allows entry from both directions and northbound-only exit. Approximately 88 percent of the 9.4 acre site will be covered by building or asphalt. In addition to a raingarden, stormwater drainage will be handled by an underground storage and infiltration system. The system, buried under a portion of the parking lot, will direct most of the water to a pond on the west side of Highway 61. - Kristine Goodrich
