Business Development VP Position# 2362 Location: Midwest Education Requirements: College degree required (Marketing or related field preferred). Other Requirements: Include: • 10 years relevant experience. • Multi-line experience including extensive field sales background as an Agent and Agency Manager in financial services is essential. • Must hold at least one insurance designation (CPCU, CIC or other). • Self-starter with excellent organization, problem solving and administrative skills. • Strong leadership, planning and facilitation skills. • Excellent technical knowledge of all insurance product lines, products and their application. • Sound knowledge of the training industry. • Strong relationship building and persuasion skills. • Regular travel is required. Salary Range: Starting salary between $120-150k plus bonus up to 20%. Description: Duties and responsibilities include: • Improve the productivity of our Client’s Agents and Agency Managers by developing, implementing, coordinating, administering and directing education and training business development as well as by providing direct business services through the Account Contact Units. • Direct Agent and Agency Manager training in insurance sales, operational systems, product knowledge and related activities to improve our Client’s productivity and profitability. Includes sales strategy development and implementation management, plus active involvement in oversight of a variety of related functions, including: training, product development and marketing. • Analyze overall business development/training needs and develop strategies for all product lines. Adapt these core strategies to the requirements of each regional market. • Train Agents and Agency Managers as effectively as possible by utilizing a variety of instructional styles: o Online. o Webinar. o Classroom instruction. o Small group interaction. o One-on-one interaction. • Develop and implement instructional media to be used including development of a company LMS as well as social learning technologies that will drive the productivity of each Agent’s business. • Accountabilities include to: o Agency. o Property-Casualty business. o Life Business. o Broker-Dealer Compliance. • Actively participate/lead key aspects of the channel transformation initiative (Agency of the Future). This includes development of the business tools used by producing Agents to grow their business as well as developing/implementing the model office initiative. • Develop metrics of the Business Development initiative and provide timely data as to the size, scope and ongoing development of Agent business. • Develop/Manage the Central Services used by the regional Account Contact Units. • Maintain services such as software, procedures, billing that effect each Unit. • Develop new concepts that can continue to increase participation, efficiency of growth for each unit and thus increase Agent productivity and profitability. • Oversee all staff development aspects including the selection, training/development, disciplining/performance review, salary administration, referring employee complaints, controlling workflow, motivation of employees, and assigned department budget as efficiently as possible by determining the programs to be developed in-house and those to be outsourced. • Identify and develop a fully qualified successor. • Review budgets and operating procedures for each regional Account Contact Unit to drive their efficiency and profitability. • Provide consultation and direction to each Unit to help them drive their overall success and results. • Drive the implementation of these strategies by personally engaging with field sales leadership to align sales activities with other field activities and agendas. • Participate in various corporate committees and taskforces where a senior training, business development perspective is essential.
