Busted! A letter arrived from the French authorities yesterday letting me know that a camera in SW France clocked my rental car going 56 in a 50 km/hr. zone. The way I see it I have three choices- I can flee prosecution and head to Mexico or the fastness of the Canadian Rockies. I estimate I would have the resources to hold out for three days before turning myself in. I do have the option of fighting the charge, but that would involve rotting in a prison barge in the English Channel off of Le Harve until my trial date. (I think you have to wear an Iron Mask when youre in there too.) Or I can cave to the pressure and pay the 90E fine. Im weighing my options.
