But Jonah ran away from the Lord and headed for Tarshish. Jonah 1:3 Come, follow me, Jesus said, and I will make you fishers of men. At once they left their nets and followed him. Matthew 4:19-20 LOVING GOD AND FATHER…two types of people had a CLOSE ENCOUNTER with YOU, whose responses were poles apart… …The prophet Jonah who stubbornly went into the opposite direction from Nineveh where YOU commanded him to go to preach repentance, for the Jewish people were at odds with the people of Nineveh and he preferred that they go to hell than go to heaven. But during his flight, he ended up inside the belly of a whale for three days and three nights, consequently, finding himself in Nineveh, where YOU exactly wanted him to be (Jonah 1:1 - 3:10). He reacted to YOUR COMMAND, wanting it his way, but at the end of the day…YOU had the FINAL SAY. …Two brothers, Peter and Andrew, immediately left their nets when YOUR SON JESUS CHRIST came by and asked them to follow HIM. Instead of reacting negatively to YOUR INVITATION, they responded gladly without question. O ABBA FATHER…since the fall of man, YOU EMBARKED on the GREATEST QUEST of repairing our broken world devastated by sin and have been seeking PARTNERS to work alongside with YOU to do the job. Therefore, when ENGAGED by YOU…a GREAT DIVINE ENCOUNTER which will surely take place in our life, and in fact, many times…may our response be immediate without question like that of Peter and Andrew, instead of reacting negatively, as Jonah did, initially. Ultimately, YOU will have the final say anyway, but will be spared from being swallowed by darkness, in the form of difficult and harsh circumstances in order to get our attention. Why not, what a GREAT PRIVILEGE and HONOR it is to PARTNER with the LORD OF HOSTS…THE CREATOR OF HEAVEN AND EARTH…OUR EVERLASTING GOD AND FATHER…in the home, place of business, company where we work, at the construction sight, while taking care of the sick and old, or wherever YOU have planted us!
