But Jonah rose up to flee Jonah tried to do what I believe - TopicsExpress

But Jonah rose up to flee Jonah tried to do what I believe every man has at some point, tried or is doing now. He heard the call and was commissioned and then out of pride turned and began heading a different direction. It wasnt what Jonah had in mind. Maybe youve been evaluating what God has called you to do; the calling, instruction, the responsibilities and the people. Seeing the tasks at hand has set you back on your heels and like a wave in the sea, your thoughts wash back and forth. Instead of being a stalwart of faith, you are running from the call of duty. You really think that itll be better for you on the other side. But you will see that no matter where you go, conviction follows. Jonah wasnt trying to run away from Gods presence. He knew that wasnt possible but was running away from the responsibility of service. If I change places, thatll make it better... If I change my environment, then Ill be OK... Different place, different faces, different times but same demons and still convicted. No matter where you go, conviction will always follow. That awareness of what is to be, lingers like the air you breathe. Friend turn to Him today and repent of your backsliding. Tell Him youre sorry for trying to do like your way. Dont you see? God is sending a wind to turn your boat around. You cant run! Its Gods will for you to serve Him and there in service to the Lord, youll find satisfaction. But Jonah rose up to flee unto Tarshish from the presence of Jehovah; and he went down to Joppa, and found a ship going to Tarshish: so he paid the fare thereof, and went down into it, to go with them unto Tarshish from the presence of Jehovah.
