This is one problem with intellectuals who are so much invested in an idea that they start twisting facts to suit their theories. All of us show this trait at some point in life. So whatever is written ahead, I believe it is just a phase in lives of many people which I think will pass away. The ground support of AAP is nothing but cadres of Youth-Congress (same YC of Sanjay Gandhi and Jagdish Tytler which ran amock in 1984 riots). INC has lent their cadres to AAP to blunt Modis blow. They are not the AAPtards - they are smart fellows following the diktats from 10-Janpath. Perfectly understandable, even if not agreeable. Second type of AAP supporters are communists - They understand that their brand value is sharply decreasing and AAP is new avenue through which they can reinvent themselves - selling old wine in new bottle. Again, they are not AAPtards, they are communists using camorflage as tactic to stay relevant. The naxalites like Medha Patkar, Kamal chenoy, Binayak sen etc come in this category. there were some well meaning yet left-leaning folks who supported AAP. They are slowly abandoning AAP upon seeing their antics. Even they are not AAPtards - they are opponents with an open mind. Eg. Arun Bhatia, Capt Gopinath types. Third type of AAP supporters are the urban yuppies (YUPPie - Young upwardly mobile professionals) who had never voted in their lives, have been drinking coolaid, enjoying life weekend parties etc. They never paid attention to civics, history, geography lectures in school, have no idea of how system works nor are they interested. As 2008 global crisis hit India 2.5 years later, this bubble in which these yuppies were living began to burst. Suddenly the glossy film over their eyes vanished and they were hit by 2G, CWG and whole lot of other scams. These people started looking for a quick-fix, a magical lamp whos genie would grant wishes and system will be cleansed. Thus the outlandish concept of Janlokpal etc was hyped (while lokpal is essential, these guys made it into some sort of magic bullet). When AAP was born, a section of yuppies gravitated towards AAP. It is they who qualify to the epithet of AAPtard. because unlike first two categories, they do not really know why they support AAP - When asked they parrot what Kejriwal said the earlier day. When confronted with kejriwals statement day before earlier-day, they curse and scoot. While people from first 2 categories too do the same, that is nothing but political tactics for them. The mental lethargy of the YUPPies makes it difficult for them to comprehend how is system structured and where exactly lies the problem and how to approach the problem to truly fix it, instead of making it worse. It is funny that entire leadership of AAP comes from either Congress OR leftists. There is no single YUPPie in AAP leadership. Because even AAP knows the value of AAPtards - zilch. So the leadership is very clear in their heads - Bhushan is clear about Kashmir, Chenoy is clear about maoists, Yogendra (advisor of rahul gandhi until 2012) is clear about raulbaba and congress. It is the category-3 aaptards who provide most entertainment online. They simply wont admit that theyve been duped and will continue supporting AAP - its point of honor now. You see many of them have been thoroughly ridiculed by now by many of their friends around them. It makes them look stupid and spineless if they suddenly abandon something which they vehemently defended. This is different from people from category 1&2 as their stance is deeply rooted in an ideology with solid grounding. One may not agree with it, but one respects the amount of work they have put in building those ideological foundations. Political flexibility is a very good and essential trait for anyone in public life. There is never one single way of solving a socio-politico-economic problem and one must be open to other means and ideas. AAP has cursed this flexibility throughout its discourse. And while the category-1&2 leaders and cadres have shown similar flexibility of political ideals when they jumped the bandwagon of AAP (and many are now jumping out), it is category-3 AAPtards who took this sermon seriously. Its funny really.. Moment of epiphany is always wonderful.......
