Bradley Byrne and real estate developer Dean Young finished atop a crowded field of Republican candidates in Tuesday’s special primary election for Alabama’s vacant 1st District congressional seat. With 61 percent of precincts reporting, Byrne had received 32 percent of the vote and Young had received 25 percent, according to The Associated Press. The two will face off in a Nov. 5 runoff for the GOP nomination. They are vying to replace former Republican Rep. Jo Bonner, who resigned last month to take a job in the University of Alabama system.
