By John Baimba Sesay, Press Attaché China Colonel Alhassan Bangura A Sierra Leonean Colonel, Alhassan Bangura on 15th July 2014, graduated with a Master in Strategic Studies with specialty in Military Science from the College of Defense Studies, National Defense University, Peoples Liberation Army, People’s Republic of China. He is amongst 84 senior officers and defense officials from fifty countries to have attended the 32nd Defense and Strategic Studies Course. Speaking after his graduation ceremony in China, Col. Bangura said, the course will largely help in enriching Sierra Leone’s military human resource base “which is the core to military reformation taking place now globally” He said, he is now better informed on military strategic issues particularly on military reforms and transformation. Col. Bangura said, he is taking home “new ideas on military thinking, Defense Building, Military Leadership, International and National Security Strategies Formulation and Revolution in Military Affairs (RMA)” During his stay in China, Col. Bangura successfully studied war History and Military Thought, International Security, National Security National Defense and Military Building, Military Strategy, Employment of Military Forces, Leadership Science and Strategic Management, amongst others. His presentations on Shaping the Image of the Military in the International Media; Developing Countries’ Expectations on China and Military Strategy of Sierra Leone are said to have featured unique perspectives and deep reflections leaving Chinese and foreign s officers with a profound impression. Colonel Alhassan Bangura sitted with fellow graduates Col. Bangura is a product of Ahmadiyya Secondary School Bo. He attended the Njala University College from 1984 to 1988 and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree. Between 1996 and 1999, he was at Zhejiang University in China, where he graduated with MSc in Agronomy. In 2003, he graduated with MSc in Development Studies from Larenstein University Deventer, The Netherlands.
