By Shawn Ashley House approves Friday adjournment, sets 55th Legislature’s deadlines The House approved a resolution Thursday setting Friday as the day of sine die adjournment for the legislative session and a second resolution setting deadlines for the 55th Legislature. HCR1033, by House Speaker Jeff Hickman, R-Dacoma, and Senate President Pro Tempore Brian Bingman, R-Sapulpa, declares that the Second Session of the 54th Legislature be finally adjourned sine die on May 23, 2014. Under the Oklahoma Constitution, lawmakers are not required to adjourn the session until May 30. The resolution was adopted on a 67 to 20 vote Thursday evening in the House and will be considered by the Senate Friday. HCR1032, also by Hickman and Bingman, sets various deadlines for the First and Second Sessions of the 55th Legislature. The resolution, as amended, was adopted on voice vote and will be taken up Friday by the Senate.
