By: West Coast Boxer Rescue Saving Grace....Please help stop animal abuse and cruelty. (7 photos) Angel was abused/neglected by her owner and dumped at the Baldwin Park Animal Shelter on January 28,2014. Angels owner claimed that she wouldnt or couldnt eat. Angel was starving to death. Angel was a beautiful 1 year old fawn female boxer. She was extremely emaciated at 36 lbs. Angel had a huge mass the size of a grapefruit coming out of the side of her mouth. Baldwin Park Animal Control Officers were horrified to see Angels condition. They took the owners information and took in Angel for care and treatment. Angel ate. The following day January 29, 2014, Animal Control took Angel to a local vet to remove the massive growth. WCBR rescued Angel (now Grace) on January 30. After a visit to the vet, Grace immediately went to a foster home (now forever home) with a wonderful couple. Mom and Dad provided a loving home, care and nourishment. Graces progress was fast and furious. Her weight gain is listed below and before/after pictures are provided. 1/30/14 36.4 lbs 2/4/14 41.0 lbs 2/11/14 45.5 lbs 2/21/14 49.0 lbs Grace is thriving in her forever home. She is happy, healthy, energetic boxer girl who entertains her mom and dad daily. They cant imagine life without her. Life is great for Grace thanks to Animal Control and her new family. So all is good for Grace, but we need to protect all the other Angels out there. We dont know if Angels owner has other dogs, also not receiving vet care and starving to death. Angels growth did not develop overnight. Her owner never treated her for this massive growth. Our biopsy of the growth indicated that it was a local fibrous hyperplasia. It was slow growing and would have taken many months for the tumor to reach that size. LA County DA, with the help of the Animal Cruelty Task Force (and Baldwin Park Animal Control), is charging Angels previous owner with Animal Cruelty. The arraignment hearing is scheduled for Monday, July 14 at the El Monte Courthouse at 8:30am. We would like as many people as possible to come to this and subsequent hearings on this case to show the Judge, the DA, the previous owner, and anyone else abusing or neglecting a dog, that it will not be tolerated and you will be punished. Please join us in getting justice for Angel.
