By now I am sure everyone has seen this video.... Not that I approve of trigger happy cops, I also know that how the officer reacted is how they are trained in many ways. Here is where things went bad..... You NEVER NEVER NEVER reach back into your car if you are out of it.... and if you are in your car, you NEVER NEVER NEVER take your hands from the steering wheel. If the officer asks for something and you have to make ANY movements to get it, ALWAYS announce your intent before making any movement. If the officer ever asks you to reach for something, especially any kind of weapon, advise the officer if would be safer for him to retrieve it and ask if you can exit the car. Of course there are fourth amendment rights to consider but that depends on if you want to risk being shot or not. The best option for the man in the video would have been to put his hands in view and advise the officer his license was in his vehicle. Do I think the officer acted correctly? I would say the he probably jumped the gun (no pun intended). But I also know how they are trained and this actually was textbook to a point in the way it was executed but the trooper had one problem...there was no weapon visible at the time he shot the guy. That is why he was terminated from his job more than likely. youtu.be/KeT_oSLtI-o
