By what reason or logic do Atheists assume that all people who dismiss the Gods whom men worship, are by designation part of the Atheists community? Im an Agnostic, that means I agree with Thomas Huxleys Principle of Agnosticism - because I agree, too many Atheists and Theists seem a bit like opposite sides of a coin -- stamped on one side saying I know, and the other, Im sure. For me, the only thing Im really sure of, is that all of us are ignorant regarding the ultimate origin of the cosmos, and not in some slight way - no, we are hopelessly ignoriant. I want nothing to do with the unjustified assumptions I see coming from most Theists or Atheists. Too many seem convinced that they have somehow collected enough information to act and react, as if theyre sure. Between the assumption of faith by most Theist, and the assumption of probability by most Atheist (with the obvious exception of the Intelligent Design Creationists, like Ken Ham) I find most Atheists more offensive than most Theists. Because it seems to me that most Theists make no pretence of using scientific method to support their beliefs or faith, while too many Atheists seem all to willing to dismiss or bend scientific method beyond recognition. The Atheist label, its not some empirical designation like white or dry. its just some people that seem (to me) to be manipulated by whoever seems the be the most popular and authoritative Atheist at the moment. Well, I dont want to be part of that community. Im disgusted by its genocidal history, and even more disgusted that most Atheists deny any association. The need to market or evangelize seems to me a remnant of abandoned Theism. I see how sure most are, and how even the absolutely certain are welcomed, encouraged, and celebrated. The mocking and ridicule, the calls to eradicate religion, the political agenda of organizations like Atheism Plus, or the Freethought blog network. Youve no right to arbitrarily attach my name to any of that.
