#CAIR-CT, Faith Leaders to Deliver Letters to Sens. Blumenthal, Murphy on #Gaza - #GazaUnderattack Letters call for suspension of American aid to Israel due to human rights violations (Hartford, CT, 8/7/14) – On Friday, August 8, the Connecticut office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-CT) will hold a news conference to call for a suspension of U.S. military aid to Israel for its violation of human rights in Gaza. The group will also deliver hundreds of letters to both Senator Richard Blumenthal and Senator Chris Murphy. The letters were signed by members of the community calling on lawmakers to intervene to stop the Israeli attack on Gaza and to hold the Israeli forces responsible for targeting UN schools, hospitals, and civilians, including women and children. The letters read in part: The U.S. government must not remain silent about Israels unjust and disproportionate use of force against the Palestinians in Gaza. . . Because Americans taxpayers provide Israel with billions of dollars of aid each year, we have a right to demand that those funds not be used to take the lives of innocent civilians.
