“CALAVERITAS” (little skulls) Mexicans exercise an eternal sense of humor towards terrible things in life that we cannot change. We have a simulation relationship with death and life. The night of the death the living die and the death awake from their grave. We engage in behaviors that give life to special dishes, bread and celebrations. One of those artistic expressions are the so called “Calaveritas” These are little verses that usually describe the death of an important living member of our society, from Presidents to artists, from celebrities to the average Mexican we all are subject to Mexican dark humor that at the end celebrates life and death with poetic creativity. During these days you can find “Calaveritas” on newspapers, webpages or on radio stations. Herein an English Example: Poor Obama passed away He could not get all the money Democrats begged him to stay But Republicans poisoned his honey People think he is better dead No more need for explanations With all spy scandals ahead He could not face all these nations Michele cries on his grave He had many good intentions At least he passed medicare Now she will afford her injections.
