CALLING ON THE SPIRIT OF THE MAN FROM SNOWY RIVER The Monaro and Snowy Mountains regions are well renowned for producing some great horsemen and some fantastic rough stock riders, with a select few going on to achieve fame and fortune on the rodeo circuit. Because the Cooma Rodeo Committee are keen to let locals compete in front of their home crowd, they are holding a special event aimed at all local stockmen. A highlight of the CRT Cooma Rural Rodeo, the Poley Buckjump is a chance for local competitors to step up to the plate and try their luck. With $500 prize money and lots of prestige on offer, some of the best rough riders in the district will be entered. The Poley Buckjump is a unique event at the CRT Cooma Rural Rodeo as it enables competitors to compete in the saddles they ride in every day; as long as it is either a stock or fender saddle. And of course extra points are always awarded if the competitor can crack a stock whip whilst the bronc is in full flight! Any local competitors who are interested in entering the Poley Buckjump must enter through Central Entries the week before the rodeo.
