Honolulu hires former Coldwell Banker exec to run citys Bikeshare Hawaii program (from Pacific Business News) The City and County of Honolulu has hired Lori McCarney, a former executive with Coldwell Banker Pacific Properties and Bank of Hawaii and an avid triathlete, to be the CEO of Bikeshare Hawaii, the citys fledgling bike-share program. The city has also hired Ben Trevino, a former database developer for the University of Hawaii Economic Research Organization, to be the programs president. A spokesman for Mayor Kirk Caldwells office confirmed that McCarney had been hired. McCarney, who starts her new post next month, said Tuesday said that she was not ready to discuss her new role. Trevino confirmed to PBN that he has been hired, but also declined to discuss the program, which would put at least 1,700 bicycles at 180 stations around Honolulu, according to earlier estimates from Honolulu officials. Trevino is also a founder of Interisland Terminal, an arts and culture nonprofit, whose current projects include Kakaako Agora, an event space. McCarney, who held senior marketing positions with Coldwell Banker Pacific Properties and Bank of Hawaii before that, competed in the Ironman World Championship in Kailua-Kona on Saturday and placed 17th in her division rank. Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell has been working to improve bikeability in Honolulu. Right now, the city is installing a protected bike lane on King Street that will run one way from downtown to the University of Hawaii. The bike-share program should start next year, according to city officials. The program would be paid for through a $1 million grant from the Hawaii State Department of Health, officials told PBN earlier this year. The city also plans to seek private sponsorships. Riders would rent the bikes in short increments to get to point A to point B. Other cities such as New York have a similar bike-share program, and on Tuesday, Seattle launched its first bike-share program.
