CARGO CULTS - amazing stuff, after WW2 when the U.S. left people stationed throughout the Pacific Islands, they were sustained by deliveries of cargo via airplanes; the natives had nothing in their culture to explain this, so to them GOD was providing the cargo IF the man gave the correct ritual, prayer, whatever.. or GOD will reward believers w STUFF, not reward non-believers (sound familiar?) - one even has a messiah figure, John Mauk (who may have been the 1st white man they knew)..
