CARRIE (2013) With the release of IF I STAY tomorrow, I decided to take a look at Carrie starring Chloe Grace Moretz. Based on the Stephen King classic, Carrie White (Moretz) has her first period in the school locker room shower and becomes a mockery of the school. Meanwhile at home, she is neglicted and abusive by her mad catatonic mother (Julianne Moore). This version really expands the supporting cast and less on Carrie White. That is a shame because the story itself is about a woman coming of age through horrific circumstance. The movie is very close and personal story. I think this lack of focus might also have to do with Moretz being 15 and even though she is becoming a great actress with each film, she doesnt quite know how to display complex emotions. I mean her anxiety, shyness and shock all have the same facial expression in this film. Where was the anger after the bucket of blood? It felt like a tantrum more than revenge.
