CASTING CALL: THE GHOST TRAIN Director: STASH KIRKBRIDE Production dates: 19th March - 28th March 2015 Rehearsals will start from Monday 9th of February 2015, 5 nights per week, 7pm-10pm. Auditions: Tuesday 16th September, 7pm Wednesday 17th September, 7pm (both evenings will be in the theatre bar) Auditions will be 20 minute one to one sessions with the director. There is no need to learn anything in advance of the audition but please be familiar with the play; a reading copy is available at the theatre. The Play: A Film Noir 1940’s thriller/light comedy, set at a disused Cornish railway station where a group of passengers find themselves stranded, late at night. They are joined by the runaway Julia and her pursuers for a night of ghost stories and suspense. Captivating and thoroughly entertaining, this classic revival of a Maddermarket favourite will be a sure fire hit and great fun to be a part of. Jump on board, if you dare Characters: (ages are playing ages only) SAUL HODGKIN: 50/70 Stationmaster at Fal Vale Station in Cornwall. Requires a good Cornish accent as his part is written in the dialect. A fabulous character part. RICHARD WINTRHOP: late 20s/mid 30s. Debonair, well suited man, of obvious standing. Traditional to a fault. Strong & kind. Important part. ELSIE WINTRHOP: 25/30 Elegant. Richard’s wife. Appears a strong, independent woman. Her ‘looks’ can kill at a hundred yards. CHARLES MURDOCK: 25/35 Potentially a cad, but in love with his new wife. Helps drive the play. PEGGY MURDOCK: 25/35 Very pretty and feminine. Bright. Bubbly, in love with her quieter husband. Must have a lightness of touch that actresses had in those black and white films of the 1940s. MISS BOURNE: 50/70 Larger than life spinster. A pain in the rear end to everyone she meets. Prudish and superstitious. Comes with a license to steal the scene from time to time! TEDDY DEAKON: 25/70 Appears an upper class twit. Full of energy. Has little fear. Has to be likable and charismatic. Wonderful challenge. Needs to be fully comfortable with being centre stage! JULIA PRICE: 18/40 Full of mystery from the moment she enters. With her arrival the play shifts up a gear. She is different, afraid, alone, a damsel in distress, but not all she seems. Above all dramatic. HERBERT PRICE: 40/65 ‘Brother’ to Julia. Well groomed. Intimidating. Little patience or humour. Hides a secret. DR STERLING: 40/50 Trustworthy in appearance. Seemingly kindly doctor caring for Julia. Lots of lines to learn. JACKSON and SMITH any age. Policemen. Walk on roles with one or two lines. Can double as stage crew or be entry level parts for new folk. To book an audition please sign up via the sheet in the main office or email [email protected] with your name, contact number and character you’re interested in. If you can’t make the above dates but still wish to audition or have any questions, please contact the director [email protected] or ring 07930 638 017. ~D~
