CASTING CALL for paid performers and performing volunteers Radiant’s Christmas Grotto Effervescent is recruiting for three paid performance positions and eight unpaid voluntary performance positions in December 2014. Radiant’s Christmas Grotto is an immersive world of fun and wonder, designed by local children and young people, and put together by the award-wining Effervescent artistic team, who created The Fish-Hearted Bride in the tanks of Plymouth’s Aquarium last year. Taking the best aspects of a traditional grotto, and adding some high quality Effervescent performance and sparkle, this will be an unforgettable miniature theatre experience for children and families to enjoy together. The grotto will be installed into the brand new Radiant Art Gallery on Derry’s Cross, adjoining the scrumptious tea house RumpusCosy. Effervescent is now recruiting for paid and unpaid performers to rehearse and perform throughout December. We seek: Two singing, dancing Christmas Deer to host the grotto (paid opportunity) One snow creature who hosts the grotto (paid opportunity) Eight highly interactive woodland creatures to “usher” the event each day (voluntary opportunity for trainee performers who want to build their CVs and contacts) The snow creature is a huge puppet, and this job involves wearing a large body suit and – potentially - stilts. We are open to the idea of the three lead characters taking turns to play each role throughout the month. Casting will be by audition on Saturday 2nd November 2014 at Radiant Art Gallery, Plymouth. Rehearsals begin Monday 1st December. The grotto goes live on Friday 5th December with daily and evening performances from 5th to 23rd December.
