District Executive PennDOT, District 8-0 Mike Deiter Assistant Construction Manager, PennDOT Paul Francis, P.E., City Engineer, City of Harrisburg Dave Botero, Community Policing Coordinator The City of Harrisburg CAT talking points: *The bridge closure is scheduled for April 2 – December 22, 2014 *The bridge will be closed to all vehicular and pedestrian traffic *Capital Area Transit is introducing a detour route and new service in area of the city most impacted by the closure. *Routes 1 & 13 remain the same *Routes 8,19,20 & 322 inbound on Derry Street will turn north at 13th Street to Market Street and downtown. Outbound routes will traverse Market Street to 13th, turn right and go to Derry Street and return to regular routing. *Four CATConnect community engagement meetings were held in the Allison Hill and South Harrisburg communities over the last month. *As a result of public input from those meetings, Route 15 will be eliminated. *And Route 17 will be added with service to Hamilton Health Center and State Street. This provides 26 bus stops per day at the health center and reduces walking distances to a bus stop in the community by about 50%. *Customer schedules and detour maps have been distributed throughout the City and transit system. *CAT is working closely with PennDOT, the City of Harrisburg, and local community organizations to communicate detour scheduling and maximize safe transit service during the Mulberry St. closure. *Additional information is available at cattransit, at CAT, 901 N.
