CBN Beach Soccer Cup starts in Abuja The second edition of the CBN Beach Soccer Challenge Cup competition will take place in Abuja between Friday and Sunday. Eight teams will take part in this year’s competition, from four teams that were involved in the inaugural event last year. Coordinator of the event, Taye Olajide of Sports Solutions said on Thursday that Fidelity Bank Strikers, Aso Savings and Loans FC, Sterling Bank FC and Anambra Beach Soccer FC are among teams participating. Others are Team Kaduna, Nasarawa Beach Soccer FC, Kogi Confluence Beacn Boys and Team FCT. Matches will take place at the brand-new Beach Soccer Pitch, Accra Street, Zone 5, Abuja. Expected at Friday’s opening ceremony are the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, Chairman of the House of Reps’ Committee on Sports, Hon. Godfrey Gaiya and Director General of the National Sports Commission, Hon, Gbenga Elegbeleye. Also expected to grace the occasion are NFF Executive Committee member and Chairman of NFF Sub-Committee on Beach Soccer, Hon. Suleiman Yahaya-Kwande, NFF General Secretary, Barrister Musa Amadu and CBN’s Corporate Communications Director, Ugo Okoroafor. On Friday, Fidelity will take on Team Kaduna; Aso Savings will do battle with Kogi Confluence; Nasarawa are up against Sterling Bank and; Team FCT will trade tackles with Anambra. Classification and semi final matches hold on Saturday, with the classification finals and tournament Final holding on Sunday. Matches will begin at 2pm each day.
