CHECK THIS OUT AND SHARE! On November 5th 2014, Guy Fawkes Day, a few dozen Winnipeggers came out to the Manitoba Legislature which is now heavily guarded due to the Ottawa Parliament shooting. There were those who showed up in masks against government corruption as well as a large group of protesters demanding answers from Greg Selinger, family courts and the CFS following decades of malpractice and injustice by the NDP and the child kidnapping agencies. Many mothers and fathers shouted with passion. Many of these people lost their own children for unjust reasons and spend their lives fighting for them. We at Winnipeg Alternative Media have been following the stories of those fighting the CFS for a good deal of time and have heard incredibly disgusting stories of negligence and injustice. At the rally, the large police presence angered protesters. With a sniper on the roof of the legislature in a camo jacket and hat with a mask over their face, a couple of photographers and around 20 police on the ground it was a completely unnecessary presence that only intimidated protesters and caused them to give the police a piece of mind. Protesters including WAM’s Josh Sigurdson confronted the Winnipeg Police Service/Department which was followed with the Winnipeg police helicopter being called in. The police helicopter spent untold thousands of dollars circling the legislature for over an hour, all because protesters shouted that they came in peace to police. This all happened on the first inaugural day of Winnipeg’s new mayor, Brian Bowman who surely got an interesting first glimpse of office. Police told Josh Sigurdson that there were threats of a riot. Josh made it clear that a riot would not happen and that other protesters wouldn’t let it happen. The entire group of protesters only made that more clear to police as a group. Of course this was met with a huge drainage of the taxpayer’s pocket by sending a helicopter to circle protesters over and over again until people finally dispersed after the speeches were over. There was a great level of unity from people of all sorts of backgrounds at the rally and was a very passionate collective. This video does a good job of showing how activism works in Winnipeg in the growing police state. Remember, remember, the 5th of November! *It should be made clear that Guy Fawkes masks are made by Warner Brothers. There wasn’t much of an Anonymous protest, or hacktivist protest as most of those in attendance joined in with the anti-CFS protesters.
