CHICAGO, IL: Apollo is deaf, listed by well intentioned owners on Craigslist. The family is allowing Hello Pittie Windy City Adoptables help them rehome him. Apollo is 1 1/2 years old, house trained, excellent with children ( he lives with two small children now) and he is good with dogs as well! Apollo knows a few hand signals and will be easy to teach many more, as he is familiar with learning and loves treats! His family says he has some separation anxiety, which is common with deaf dogs and easily corrected BUT it takes consistency and patience. In return you gain the most amazing companion. Requirements for his adoption are strict. Adopters must have a fenced yard and you must be committed to keeping him socialized and be home with him more than a full time working person normally would be, at least for the first six or so months. And you must agree to a home visit and reference checks. Deaf dogs are subject to many horrible things if left in shelters or if they fall into the wrong hands. Bad people like to adopt them and use them as bait dogs for fighting practice. We need to find this precious boy a safe and secure forever home soon ! He is up to date on vaccines but is not yet neutered. We will make sure that he is prior to rehoming at no cost to the adoption.
