CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION: CELEBRATING THE BIRTH OF JESUS OR THE PAGAN “SUN-GOD”???!!! After about 300 years after Jesus. Roman religious and political leaders decided to institute a celebration of the birth of Christ and decided to taken already existing holiday, which happened to be the Pagan celebration of “SATURNALIA”. They change the name to “Mass of Christ” or “Christ’s Mass”, which eventually became known as Christmas. The “SATURNALIA” was a pagan holiday to honour the birth of the “Sun-god”. It was a week of festivities, where people exchange gifts, decorated their homes, engaged in general merry making, and culminated on December 25. Pagan regards this as their biggest holiday. It was also the birthday of MITHRA, a god of light and loyalty whose cult was at the time growing popular among the Roman Soldiers. According to the new encyclopedia Britannia, in winter, when the sun in winter, when the sun seemed weakest, Pagans holds ceremonies appealing to their gods, to get this source of warmth and light to come back from its distant travels December 25 was thought to be the day that the “Sun” began its return. During the reign of the Emperor Constantine, December 25th became the date for the celebration of Jesus’ birth by the Church of Rome. In fact, mixing true worship with Pagan ritual was why God punished the Israelites many years before the time of Jesus. If Christmas were of divine origin, wouldn’t Jesus ask his follow to commemorate the day of his birth as 25th December?? Jesus says, in Matthew 15:9 --- “But in vain they worship me, they are teachings for doctrines the commandments of men”. And also in Mark 7:7--- The Bible clearly says NOT TO MIX Pagan traditions with the worship of God. ========================================================== *What does lying about the original pagan festival represented? *The lies, cover ups, going against the actual teaching of the scripture gave the Christians courage to lie against Islam, to condemn Islam without facts… having no respect for Almighty Allah and his messenger! *Sadly most Christians cannot on their own, answer or defend their belief accurately , for when you question / challenge something you find odd, they resolve in using insult/ blasphemous words or citing examples from terrorism, killing.
