CITIZEN Q: The family of a severely brain-damaged woman is fighting to keep the provincial government from taking part of her $1.5-million insurance settlement. Almost 20 years ago, when she was a teenager, she was in a car accident in Kings County. She now lives at the Kings Rehab Centre. The family doesn’t pay for basic care. The family’s lawyer wonders why anyone would bother with an insurance claim if the province is just going to take it. Should you be expected to use an insurance settlement to pay the province for long-term healthcare? Call 407-2100 and tell us what you think.
