Grandma and the rest of the family were so proud of you!! *POMPOMS out!!* KARLA ROBLEs BIO: Karla Roble is a Filipino fashion designer student who was born in the Philippines and migrated to the states with her family shortly after finishing high school. At a very young age Karla was convinced that she was born to create, and the moment she got introduced to Fashion Design she knew right away that this was what she’s destined to do. Her work had been featured in The California Apparel News –the official apparel industry news of California, graced the cover of her college magazine and also the cover of a local magazine in Orange County, California. She also had the opportunity to compete at The California Community College Student Annual Fashion Symposium, where she represented her school and competed against 109 city colleges statewide and won 1st place in the evening category twice in a row. Her designs also won her multiple scholarship awards. And in 2012 she was nominated Raw Artists’ Fashion Designer of the year. Her work also got featured in Ellegance Magazine’s Spring Summer 2013 Issue. She is currently a scholar at the Art Institute of California and continues to be on the dean’s high honors list. She is now a tutor at the Art Institute of California Orange County campus and a member of the Alpha Beta Gamma Honor Society. When she’s not designing, she takes on stylist responsibilities and styles for editorial fashion photo shoots. She is remarkably very passionate about everything she does, she is always excited and takes the initiative to learn anything new and uses it to her advantage. Karla also likes to express herself through dance and choreography and enjoys reading books and watching movies during her downtime. Karla believes in making the most of whatever surrounds her and in doing everything with passion or not at all. Designs in Los Angeles, awarded a scholarship to the student who designed a dress that would best fit her vintage-inspired label. * 1ST PLACE EVENING WEAR CATEGORY California Community College Student Fashion Symposium, April 2008 This event is organized by instructors from 14 community colleges located in the greater Southern California and students from the 109 public colleges statewide are eligible to compete. This event is made possible by a grant from the California Community College Chancellors Office. designed to promote careers in the fashion Industry. More than 1,000 people took part in this years event. A Fashion show at the Orpheum Theatre featuring 85 garments from colleges around the state concluded the event.
