COACH of the reigning FIFA U-17 World Cup champions, Nigerias Golden Eaglets, Manu Garba has the Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi to contend with as the Nigerian Sports Awards Coach of the Year award ceremony holds tomorrow at the MUSON Centre, Onikan, Lagos. Pundits are divided as to who will win the award as Keshi holds the enviable record of winning the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in South Africa and qualifying Nigeria for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, while Garba coached Nigeria to win the cadet mundial for the fourth time in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). General Manager, Unmissable Incentives Limited, organisers of the award ceremony, Mr Kayode Idowu noted that the race for the Coach of the Year award is one of the toughest as the two coaches have been at the peak of performance in the last one year. Of all the categories of the award, I must note that the Coach of the Year award is one that is tightest because the two nominated coaches have performed excellently well with their teams winning laurels and making Nigerians proud, Idowu said. Meanwhile, Amstel Malta has partnered with the organisers of the Nigerian Sports Award. Idowu stated: The Amstel Malta support for the Nigerian Sports Award especially coming at the crucial stage of the award is a welcome development and a great relief to the company that has been bankrolling the project since inception. Other awards to be contested for include Team of the Year Award, Footballer of the Year Award (Male), Footballer of the Year Award (Female), Ball sports Person of the Year Award, Special Sports Person of the Year Award, Sports Man of the Year Award, Sports Woman of the Year Award, Administrator of the Year Award, Lifetime Achievement in Sports Award, Sports Journalist of the Year Award (print), Sports Journalist of the Year Award (Electronics), Sports Governor of the Year award.
