Major Responsibilities: Initiate and facilitate mental health intervention and illness prevention programs and mental health literacy education programs for the school community such as; o Write articles for the school newsletter that promote mental health and wellbeing. o Be involved in transition and peer support programs o Ensure that counselling has a presence at assemblies o Source external providers for parent information sessions when required o Building a database of referral agents and resources Experience as a Counsellor in a school setting would be viewed favourably. Recommending relevant, classroom based strategies to teachers and support staff forassistance with student behavioural management, self‐regulation issues, social competency skills etc. Make recommendations in relation to students individual learning plans when required. Job Requirements: Key Selection Criteria/Essential Criteria: Be registered as a psychologist with AHPRA Be eligible for membership of the Australian Psychological Society Have the expertise to administer and report upon psychometric testing of students and provide reports to both teachers and parents Provide a confidential and professional counselling service to students with academic, social and emotional needs Proven ability to work within a team based environment Highly developed communication, interpersonal and organisational skills to assist in working with parents, teachers and executive staff.
