COMMUNITY NOTICE Fringe Arts Portland are seeking interested people from the age of 12 years onward to participate in On Edge Fashion show 2015. The aim of the show is to explore the idea of fashion from an affordable source, that is recycled fashion from the Opportunity/Charity Shop. Further to the recycled clothing element of the show there will also be a section devoted to wearable art. The wearable art section will include those fashion that have been made by participants in On Edge Fashion. What wearable art means is left to the imagination of the participant, however some suggestions include making an outfit from recycled clothing by removing sleeves or legs from one piece and putting it on another, painting a shirt/top with acrylic paint, putting patches from parts of one piece of clothing onto another, etcetera – the ideas are endless. The only rule for this event is that the outfits must not cost more than $20. This rule is to encourage as many people as possible to participate in this exciting new project. The show will give participants an opportu nity of showing off their skills in making or assembling an outfit and will also give experience to young people in presenting their own or others fashion items in the events show. We also welcome young people who are prepared to model outfits made by other. Fringe Arts Portland steering committee would also like to encourage young people to participate in the organisation and running of this event, this will give young people not only experience but confidence in their own organisational abilities. Fringe Arts Portland are therefore contacting schools and colleges to seek your assistance in promoting this new and innovative event. Expressions of interest in the event should be sent by 3 January 2015 to allow time to arrange show We envisage this event being an annual event during the Fringe Arts Festival, which has its inaugural festival from 7th to 13th February 2015.
