CONFESSION OF A BACHELOR ... RABIU YAHYA SAID The weather looks wonderful. The sand wetted, the whirling wind blows and the leaves of the trees bend to let it pass. The serene feeling of being at peace with nature makes me look smart. Well seated on a bench, cool and calm. That day I witnessed the shortcoming of bachelorhood as my loneliness catapulted me to the zenith of imagination. Precisely, she got charming and innocent face. Dressed like Western Indis, her back rested on a tree with her hands crossed over her chest. My coming towards her altered her mood as she sighted her cherish value. Her face bright with smile, the twinkle of her teeth dazzled my eyes like the rays of the morning sun. Haba Rabiu!Only you I could spend much time waiting for in this esteemed paradise. Pardon me my happiness treasure I apologized. She stretched her hand, plucked a single apple and pressed her upper and lower jaws on it. She took the small part and surrendered the main part to me saying Hold and eat. Thanks my dear I said and recieved it. Come Rabiu she said stepping ahead while I followed her. She took us to a grassy place among alot of tree clusters with spreading shade. Amidst are abundant fruits and a cascading spring gushing. Noiseless, except the melodious song of canaries. We all squatted like primitive namads. Blinkless, her eyes fixed on me I observed. With smile she said, Rabiu tell me something youve never ever tell any lady. I suddenly dodged away shy of what she had said. To be continued
