CONFIRMED MISSION Tyrone Terry Benson Korea, Vietnam, Retired USAF Alamogordo, NM, 02-03-2014 and 02-04-2014 MSGt, USAF, RET Tyrone Terry Benson was in the Minnesota Army National Guard from Oct 54 - Oct 56. He left the National Guard at the rank of Spec 3. He immediately joined the USAF spending 20 years service retiring in October 1980 at the rank of MSGt. Terry then worked for Civil Service for the next 20 years, retiring in 2000. He was very active for 36 years in the VFW holding the office of New Mexico State Commander from 1987 - 1988. He was also the VFW National Chief of Staff and National Council Member. NOTICE: This is a two part mission -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PRIMARY STAGING INFO - 02-03-2014: Location: Walmart 233 South New York Avenue Alamogordo, NM Staging Time: 4:15P.M. Special Instructions: The viewing will be from 1700 hours (5:00 P.M.)until 1900 hours (7:00 P.M.) at the Alamogordo Funeral Home on 1st St in Alamogordo, NM. We will rally at the NEW Walmart on 1st at 1615 hours (4:15 P.M.), mission & safety briefing @ 1620 (4:20 P.M.) and KSU @1630 (4:30 P.M.). I’d like to have the Flag line up by 1640 hours at the funeral home. Please do not reply if you can’t make it, I know you will all be there in spirit. Special Instructions: The Funeral will begin at 1000 hours at the Alamogordo Funeral Home on 1st Street in Alamogordo, NM. The graveside service will follow at Monte Vista Cemetery on 1st St at about 1100 hrs. We will rally at the NEW Walmart on 1st at 0915 hours, mission & safety briefing @ 0920 and KSU @0930. I’d like to have the Flag line up by 0940 hours at the funeral home. The Steel Talons Honor Guard from Holloman AFB will be providing the Military Honors for this mission. This is an extremely important mission for the Alamogordo area because of Terrys long time involvement in serving his country through the military, civil service, and VFW. He was also a very close friend to one of our Ride Captains Paul Chez Sanchez. Please do not reply if you can’t make it, I know it’s a work day and I know you will all be there in spirit. It is strongly encouraged that everyone go to the mission thread and post a brief message of condolence/sympathy to the family on the loss of their loved one. It is traditional that a copy of all the condolences be printed, bound, and given to the family as a remembrance to honor their loss.
