CONGRESSMAN PEARCE: SHINSEKI’S RESIGNATION WAS THE CORRECT DECISION Washington, DC (May 30, 2014) Congressman Steve Pearce released this statement following the resignation of Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki. “The President’s decision to accept Secretary Eric Shinseki’s resignation, while weeks too late, was the correct decision,” said Congressman Steve Pearce. “I thank Secretary Shinseki for his decades of honorable service in the military. Unfortunately, his leadership and administration of the VA did not meet the needs of our veterans. I hope his resignation today ends the neglect of our veterans that has occurred under his direction. Now, the President must act again and nominate a new chief of the VA that can immediately step in and right the tremendous wrongs and failures currently going on.”
