CONGRESSWOMAN MICHELLE LUJAN GRISHAM STATEMENT ON HOUSE REPUBLICANS ANTI-TRAFFICKING AND ANTI-DREAMERS BILLS Congresswoman Michelle Lujan Grisham (NM-01), a member of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, issued the following statement after voting against two House Republicans’ bills that repealed vital humanitarian and anti-trafficking provisions for children fleeing trafficking, persecution, or violence in their home countries and to revoke DACA for DREAMers. “At a time when Congress should be standing together showing America’s strength and moral leadership, it is instead a divided body creating an even more divided America. These measures are not intended to address the problem at its root or initiate comprehensive immigration reform. Rather their purpose is to cease humanitarian and anti-human trafficking protections for the mothers and children at our borders and remove protections for DREAMers, kids who were brought here through no fault of their own and have only known America as their home. “Because of the actions of House Republicans, these mothers, children and students have all become victims of politics.
