CORPORATE DRAMA!!! Remember I told you a while back about that guy that got offered a counter offer when he resigned from his employer and asked for my advice. Sadly the nigga didn’t heed my advice and accepted the counter offer. The counter offer was topped up with a retention bonus of R30 000 which he would have to pay back the day he decides to resign. The R30 000 bonus will be recurring annually. He signed his life away to the corporate devil masters on the dotted line this week. I told him that he is making the biggest mistake of his life. I further told him that his peers at the current level that he is at are being paid between R630 000-R650 000 simply based on experience, qualification and designation. That is what the market is paying out there and he settled for a mere R420 000 meaning he is still being robbed. Not to mention that he had to make the phone call of shame and tell the company where he was supposed that he was no longer joining them. The CAE was very much disappointed in him. This industry is very small and he has ruined his reputation and people in the industry will know that he cant be trusted as he is greedy for money and accepts counter offers. When you accept a counter offer it is like when you are married to a particular person, you cheat, get caught then apologise for cheating. That relationship has broken down and all trust is gone. Even though your spouse will take you back and forgive he/she will know of your infidelity. Every time when you come home late, or not picking up your phone your spouse will forever think that you are cheating even when you are not. In a work environment, whenever you are late for work, taking days off work your employer will always wonder if you are not going for job interviews again and job hunting like you did before. Lastly, young black professionals are greedy and many of them will never be satisfied with what they have!!!
