COST FREE SOCIAL SKILLS EXCHANGE PROGRAM A Social Skills Exchange Program! A ONE-TIME FULLY FUNDED COURSE OFFERING Practice & Learn Skills With Caring Socially Connected Peers Social Communication Foundation Does your child wish (s)he could connect better with peers? Your child is not alone. Many young people who have unique differences in social interaction are not well connected in their school or community. Unique differences in social communication are well documented to be on the rise! Even with social skills training, your child may not connect with others the way (s)he would like. Social connection for young people with unique differences can be difficult for two reasons: 1) they may not have the self-understanding and skill needed to apply skills to interaction with others, and 2) their peers have little knowledge of how to bridge communication differences. To help your child improve his or her person-to-person skills, Social Communication Foundation offers social skills training with socially connected peers. The cross-peer training program gives your child experience in social exchange before (s)he enters the world of independence. Your child will not only strengthen their social skills but will also have meaningful transition experiences in the areas of communication, employment readiness, and community participation. Your child will: • Work with students from public and private high schools in their local community • Gain insight about social communication differences from experts around the world.
