COSTA DE LA LUZ & GIBRALTAR WEATHER UPDATE Saturday 8th March 2014: Lets go fly a kite, up where the air is bright, lets go fly a kite and send it souring!!!......Great day today if your a Mary Poppins fan or love that movie Gone With the Wind.......if it gets any stronger we could even consider watching the Wizard of Oz or worst still Twister......well, they all got blown away!!!......Morning all, If youve already stuck your head out the door may I suggest you check in the mirror to see if its still there!!!......if you havent ventured out, make sure you wear heavy footwear and carry a couple of large bricks in your pocket to keep yourself weighted down!!!.......Yes, the winds continue and in some areas they will be very strong so watch out for flying debris, tables and chairs, Elephants etc, and do watch for fallen trees on those roads. Cadiz Province remains fully covered by Yellow Alert for high winds throughout today and into tomorrow. Parts of Huelva should be on Alert but for some reason its not.........Winds aside, the sun remains although in the Bay of Gibraltar we might be under cloud cover this morning with a possible fast flowing levante cloud over the rock from those easterly winds........Those nighttime temperatures are cooling and the wind may well make it feel colder.....Sunday the winds continue as does the sun. Monday into Tuesday we are probably going to have to contend with those winds still but again the sun continues but with more cloudy bits and as it stands, this is the look of the remainder of the week!!!......I will say that if this weather remains unchanged then we are likely to see those nighttime temperatures drop out to January type chilly figures by the following weekend along the coast which means Mucho Frio (I know, your all impressed with my Spanish!!!) inland and down right out of order in the mountains!!!........Now, sort of changing the subject; in the warm months here in Spain and indeed in the Upper Rock Nature Reserve, the still of the day, or even the general hum of the noise if your in a built up area, is generally broken by the loud buzz in a nearby tree or bush caused by a very strange looking creature called a Cicada. Apparently they live underground for most of their life and then emerge to annoy the bloody life out of you and wreck your peace and quite....at least the males do as they are the ones that generate the noise!!!.......But heres the thing, with this warm weather we just might see one or two emerge early and when they do start emerging en-mass and you sit there listening to the buzz, should it stop suddenly and not return rain approaches!!!......The Cicada is another of those weather barometers and cannot make the buzzing noise when the humidity in the air rises as it would just before rainfall!!!......That was a public information service brought to you by your favourite restaurant The Golden Dragon where you can get revenge and tuck into Cicada in Black Bean Sauce just by choosing number 34 on the menu!!!!......And there was you lot thinking that crunch was Cockroach!!!.......Youve just so gotta hit that share button now having read such great information!!!......Jim Fraser for the LFWW network feeling hungry!!! :o
