CSAA - Texas Chapter Minutes of Meeting November 16, 2014 7:10 p.m. Opening Prayer - Maizena Browne-Mayson Recap of Previous Meeting Cephas started the meeting with an update of for the national convention. The Theme was a major discussion and Gwen asked for a Theme for the convention. Cephas stated that he has put together theme that was still in progress. He also mentioned that this is just his idea and the Theme is open to every CSAA-Texas members with ideas or Theme to work with. Comfort Bropleh added that since it is the 20th anniversary and the Ebola Crisis is the focus on everyones mind, we should make it more of the future in rebuilding after the Ebola Crisis, since the last Theme was bridging the Gap. Cephas also talked about the different halls that he has found for the convention. He said one of the halls sits two hundred people and the price is reasonable. The other hall as he stated is large but is expensive. Both halls are centrally located. He also suggests, for the convention, that the program be short and not lengthy with changes to some things away from the norm. Comfort stated that she was contacted by a member of CSAA asking why is the convention in Houston and not the Dallas or its surrounding cities since the last one was held in Houston. She suggested few points: giving others members the benefit of the doubt; asking them (members concerned about the venue) to look for halls for the activities in the Dallas area, and bring back the information to the next meeting. Cephas said he has no problem with changing the location. However, these few members who were asking Comfort should be part of the meeting because their input is very important to the association. Manasuah Korlison asked if there were majority that voted for the convention to be in Houston and if so, he is ok with whatever location. Members on the conference put their names down for the different committees and it is for all members to be part of. Gwen suggested that the 2015 convention package be ready by 31st January, 2015. The fund raiser for November is monetary. The minimum is $25.00 and to all members who have not yet paid their contribution for October (Houston fund raiser); it is still not late to make payment. The meeting was adjourned and the next meeting is December 7, 2014 at 5:00p. NB: Account information for payment is below; P.S.
