CSJs REMEMBER MAYOR MENINO The Sisters of St. Joseph of Boston - TopicsExpress

CSJs REMEMBER MAYOR MENINO The Sisters of St. Joseph of Boston mark the passing of the former mayor of the City of Boston, Thomas M. Menino, with remembrance and prayer. We remember the mayor for his deliberate building and promotion of the health of the diverse neighborhoods of our city and for the inclusive welcome that was the hallmark of his leadership. In the course of his public service, Mayor Menino led our city into its “world class status” and created a standard of one-to-one and shoulder-to-shoulder relationships with its citizens that is notable. His work on behalf of ordinary people reflects the values that energize us CSJs as a religious congregation to foster “unity and reconciliation” of “neighbor with neighbor and neighbor with God.” We especially remember his devotion to and longtime support of Casserly House, a CSJ neighborhood ministry named for one of our founders in this Boston congregation. Casserly House, under the direction of Nancy Braceland, CSJ, ministers to and among recently arrived immigrants to our city, providing for them needed assistance with language and citizenship, and for their children a safe place to learn and grow. His personal touch there will be sorely missed. We pray in great gratitude for Mayor Menino’s expressed concern for all the people of our neighborhoods, for the inclusivity that marked his approach to all “without distinction” and for the life of faith he exemplified. We pray, too, for his wife and family as they mourn his loss from their daily lives. And, finally, we pray for his eternal peace and life forever with his God. God bless you, Mayor Menino!
