CULLED FROM AWARENESS TIMES: APC & SLPP Scrutinise President’s Nominees By Augustine Samba Feb 5, 2014, 17:14 Members of the Committee on Appointments and Public Service in the House of Parliament, representing the ruling All Peoples Congress (APC) and main opposition Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP), yesterday 4th February 2014 interviewed five Presidential Nominees. The nominees, Soulay Bashirou Daramy, Brima Acha Kamara, Alhaji Mohamed Sillah Kargbo, Dr. Lansana Nyalley and Francis Gbondo, are among those recently appointed by President Koroma to hold public offices. Responding to questions from the Committee, one of Sierra Leone’s finest civil servants and diplomats in government service, Soulay B. Daramy, who is the proposed High Commissioner to The Gambia, said he has been a diplomat for over 25years. He said The Gambia has always been important to the development of Sierra Leone and because of that, he will work hard to further build on the bilateral relationship that already exists between the two countries. Former Inspector General of Police, Brima Acha Kamara, now proposed Ambassador to Liberia, said he has served as a professional and sober police officer for over 20years. He said he will use his new office to make sure that Sierra Leone benefits from the bilateral relations between the two countries. Alhaji Mohamed Sillah Kargbo, appointed proposed Ambassador Extraordinary/ Plenipotentiary to the Kingdom Saudi Arabia said he believed he was one of the fittest appointees of the president. He said he has got a wealth of experience serving in diplomatic positions. He said he will use his new office to further contribute towards the development of Sierra Leone. He promised to strengthen the bilateral relationship between Sierra Leone and Saudi Arabia. The remaining appointees, Dr. Lansana Nyalley, appointed proposed Member of Council, Statistics Sierra Leone (representing Eastern Region) and Francis K. Gbondo, proposed Member, National Minerals Agency, were also interviewed and they made similar commitments. The five appointees will sometime this week be presented to the entire House for full endorsement.
