Caitlin Gainer came through the surgery well yesterday - she had the breathing tube removed and a trach put in, hoping that she will only need that as a temporary measure, it can be used for breathing (which is the purpose now) and then as she progresses can be used to be able to speak. Her feeding tube was not moved yet because the Drs. are hoping she will be able to swallow within a couple of weeks and can avoid putting another tube in via the stomach. Caitlin was very tired last evening, running a little fever, but everyday there is a little step in this LONG recovery. Hoping the ENTs will now be able to see what is going on with Caitlins vocal cords - which at this moment they believe are paralyzed. Cassie is doing well, she has a little thrush, so is on some medication for that, she has also gained a little more weight - up to 9lbs 5ozs!! Love to all - Keep on praying!
