Caius Veiovis murder trial underway in Springfield SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP-AP) — The trial of the last of three defendants charged with a 2011 triple murder in Berkshire County has begun. The Berkshire Eagle reports that jury selection in the murder trial of 34-year-old Caius Veiovis got underway Tuesday in Hampden Superior Court. He has pleaded not guilty in the slayings in August 2011 of David Glasser, Edward Frampton and Robert Chadwell. The victims’ remains were found buried on private property in Becket days later. Two other defendants, Adam Lee Hall and David Chalue, have both been convicted of murder and other charges. The cases of all three men were moved to Springfield due to the high amount of publicity the case received in Berkshire County. Prosecutors say that Hall, a high-ranking member of the Hells Angels motorcycle gang, wanted Glasser dead so he couldn’t testify against him in another case. The others were killed to eliminate witnesses. Veiovis was known as Roy Gutfinski Jr. until he legally changed his name while in a Maine prison in 2008. Last month, Veiovis’s attorney expressed concern that it would be difficult to find impartial jurors in the case, due to his “unique appearance.” He has two large bumps resembling horns on his forehead, a “666” tattoo on his face, and numerous other tattoos and piercings.
