Caleb update: Caleb is still in the hospital after being treated for severe dehydration. He will begin TPN and lipids later today, and that will run for 24 hrs. This will continue at home everyday for about 4-6 weeks lasting 16 hours a day. Because of this, he will stay accessed at all times. Basically he will be getting fed through his port so that he can get the calories and nutrition his body is lacking and really needs. Poor little guy is all skin and bones at 26 lbs so we are looking forward to seeing him get some meat back on his bones! He is still having a terrible time with vomiting and diarrhea which is happening all day and night. He is staying hooked up to fluids to keep from getting dehydrated again. He is also spending most of his days sleeping... He is exhausted and gets worn out very quickly. Caleb started week 3 of radiation today. He was transported by ambulance from Nemours to where he gets radiation. He will do that as long as he is admitted. He is also scheduled for chemo tomorrow. Its been a difficult couple of weeks for Caleb, and we cant wait for him to finish radiation! Oh and for those who suggested it...His oncologist prescribed marinol, which is a synthetic form of cannabis. It will increase his appetite and improve his mood. I know this could be controversial to some, but when you watch a 3 yr old suffer and starve, when you can see every bone and watch weight come off daily.... You want to do whatever possible to help him. We are hopeful this will help in many ways Thank you all for your concern and prayers. It means the world to us! -Brittany
