California, USA, 1986. Judge Samuel King, visiting from Hawaii, - TopicsExpress

California, USA, 1986. Judge Samuel King, visiting from Hawaii, became annoyed that jurors were absent from his court inclement weather. He jokingly issued a decree: I hereby order that it cease raining by Tuesday. Right on cue, it stopped raining on Tuesday. California suffered a 5 year drought. In 1991, Judge King was again presiding over a case in California. The director of the Santa Clara Water District asked the judge to rescind his earlier decree. Sam issued another decree: Rain shall fall in California beginning February 27th. Sure enough, a fierce rainstorm commenced the next day and the drought officially ended. When amused reporters asked Sam to explain all this, he declared it “proof positive that we are a nation governed by laws”.
