Call this morning that Honey is going back to surgery. Doppler came out in middle of night and he cant get many of his meds with it out. He agreed to have a more invasive/permanent/anchored tube placed and will have to have an endoscope first to make sure that the ulcerated area below his stomach is stable enough to tolerate procedure. Im not a surgical nurse so I have minimal information on what will be done. He was alert enough last night to talk and express himself and gave his own consent. Each update is basically moment by moment...his condition fluctuates hour by hour. When we arrived Wednesday he was in a stupor but roused over the next two hours while we were in the room. Last night he was sitting up and not talkative (its so frustrating to have to take a breath and repeat yourself until understood) but able to communicate. He asked me a question and I never did understand him, so he just stopped talking. Sometimes when he looks at me I get the feeling that he just wants me to go away, but when I ask, he tells me to stay. Im just praying that this will allow him to get the nutrition and meds and be done in a timely manner. Dialysis is scheduled for today and everything waits for that...so it could be a 5 hour delay for that if it starts before he can get worked into the surgery suite. It also means no therapy today unless they will come early. The whole unit seems to be at the mercy of what the Jewish Hospital clinics will or will not do. So...another adventure under way. Paul had the trip on a nasty ship, the ship wrecked, he landed on a heathen island, gathered wood, and then was bitten by a snake. Then for several weeks he preached the Word and waited. It is what it is. Were waiting.
