Calls for Rupiah Banda’s Return on the Upswing The question of the possible return to power of former President Rupiah Banda continues to resurface with President Banda insisting that it is up to the people to decide if they want him to bounce back to power. Banda has said that he would not give his position as his responses have always been misunderstood. There have been calls in some quarters of the Zambian populous for President Banda to consider a political comeback. “It is the people again because it is the people who make people bounce back. I am sorry that I sound very uncooperative but anything that I say one way or the other may be misunderstood I am glad that my lawyer is here to guide me through this minefield,” he said. President Banda is eligible to contest Presidential elections after only serving three years following a Presidential by-election after the death of then serving President Levy Mwanawasa.
