[Cam/MES] There are many things about our club locally that I love and a few that I cant stand. I love the games we run, the stories we share, the fun times had talking shit about whos PC could beat up who, hanging out and getting food with people before games or afterwords. I love the friendships formed through the club and how that has enriched our lives. One of the things people who get close to me tend to find is at the core of my friendship is loyalty. If you get close enough to be someone I consider a friend I will do whatever it takes to back you up even those times it has led me to legitimately threatening people with violence and a few even darker places. This is the part of the core of what friendship is to me. An unwavering and relentless devotion to backing up your friends. That all had to be said so that I could address an issue I see with my local game. Now, there are a few issues like our game site woes or general player dropoff due to real life getting in the way that bug me but they arent anything substantial enough to really phase me. What bothers me is the division that is and has occurred locally. My domain has functionally split in two based on play style differences and neither is willing to bend to the play style of the other. However what I have been dealing with is friends sniping at friends and it baffles me. Since my loyalty begins to kick in and instinctively I will defend the friend I feel is being attacked verbally and I hate being put in that position. The worst part about being in that position is that I then hold back instead of letting whichever friend is doing the insulting why that friend has no room to put the other down because I dont want to hurt my friend. I have lashed back in that way minimally a few times but it sucks and I hate it. I hate this place. I hate being put in a situation where I want to defend one friend but cannot because it involves hurting another. But I am getting worn down about it and at this point am telling all of my friends to stop putting the others down as I would prefer to not have to be forced to listen to them verbally accost someone I care about. Because the alternative is to pick sides, which is dumb or worse I could just start telling everyone their problems when they insult someone else and just ruin all the friendships. The base of this is at my house, at game and at afters. Talk about the fun you had, talk about what your PC did or will do next, talk about any goddamn thing in the world BESIDES putting someone down.
