Can I tell you what happened today? I went to a place to buy my lunch and I had never been there before. While I waited for my order I sensed that someone was trying to get my attention so I looked over and there was a youth of around 18 looking at me. Straight away he said What a lovely day it is I agreed and added that it is a good day too. His little eyes lit up and he quickly told me that he was having the best day, he had been approved for a tech/tradie course over the road and that it was the best thing that had ever happened to him. He shared with me that his life had been very tough and he nearly ended up in prison because he had made some bad choices. Then he moved back to Mackay, got a job and now will be qualified with skills that will keep him productive for the rest of his life. He just wanted to tell someone. I was so happy for him and so pleased for me that I could be the person that was there, right then to share his joy. I may never see this boy again but it was very special to see him rejoicing in a better life where he will not get back into trouble. I am sure that he will be fine!
