?? Can one of my smart and connected local friends please explain something to me??: I constantly hear Redding is BROKE....but when I review the City of Redding Website, I see a goldmine of hundreds of acres of Surplus and undeveloped land(even a REAL goldmine). I am also aware of more land on the land use maps that never gets even basic fire prevention clearing. It appears to be in excess of 40,000 ACRES. Many of these lots are attractive nuisances for Fires, crime, illegal camping, and exposed human feces,etc.( We had to pay for cleanup and fire breaks for adjacent CITY land in the past). WHY NOT SELL SOME OF THIS LAND?? for Reserve Police, a few extra Cops or even 6 mos of private security???? Are not rainy day assets for rainy days??? (PM me if that is more comfortable). Wouldnt a private landlord allowing this kind of blight be fined and sued in many communities? I just find it strange for ANYONE to cry poor when they are sitting on millions. Please EXPLAIN.:What am I missing???
