Canine Carers Andrew and Paul, who started work at Dogs Trust - TopicsExpress

Canine Carers Andrew and Paul, who started work at Dogs Trust Darlington on the very same day, have found the paw-fect way to celebrate their five years at the charity - running the Great North Run to raise pounds for the rehoming centre hounds. https://youtube/watch?v=gBvU9Ljr16Y&list=UUFJbwDv2x97qldmol1cCC6w The lads have been keeping fit with plenty of dog walking miles – approximately 40,000 miles in the five years they have been caring for the dogs! – and have recently enlisted the help of Jed the Lurcher to ensure they have a good sprint finish. Andrew says: “Jed is one of the fastest canine residents at the centre and has been an inspiration to us in our training. Lurchers can run as fast as 40mph and whilst we haven’t managed to keep up with Jed over shorter distances he has certainly kept us on our toes. We hope that the longer distance of the Great North Run will suit our running style a bit better!” Paul says: “Andrew and I started at the centre on the very same day five years ago and we really wanted to mark the occasion in a special way. Dogs Trust relies on donations and fundraising and after five brilliant years, we wanted to give some extra back to the dogs at the centre. Sometimes canine carers walk 13 miles a day whilst walking the dogs, cleaning kennels and other general duties so we are well used to the half marathon distance!” To sponsor Andrew and Paul, please visit justgiving/Andrew-Bainbridge Jed the Lurcher is available for rehoming. He is a friendly and affectionate chap who could live with a family with sensible, older teenagers and perhaps a female canine companion but no other pets. He needs to be rehomed with someone who is around most of the day as he does like someone to give him lots of hugs! For more information please visit: dogstrust.org.uk/rehoming/dog/1024769/jed
